To List or Not to List on Your Resume Non-completed Education
To List or Not to List on Your Resume Non-completed Education Today I received an interesting question from a co-worker: would you place ALL education information on a resume? More importantly, would you list all of the colleges you attended, even if you only received a degree from one of them? This is an important question to ponder, as many people attend two or three schools before they land at the institution where they actually receive their diploma. Should you list those first two schools, even if you only graduated from the third one? My answer was: it depends. First, if you actually received a diploma from the last college you attended, then I would list that one only. List the degree first, the college second, and the location third. Potential employers are interested in knowing you have the degree needed for the job opportunity. But, what if you went from college to college taking various courses, but never actually achieved that elusive degree? Then, I would recommend listing the schools, along with relevant coursework. Although you didnât actually receive the diploma, it is important to show that the courses you took are relevant to the job opportunity. At Feather Communications, I believe that any additional education is a good thing. Why try to hide it? Position your education so that it is an advantage to you in the job search process. Even if you didnât get that degree, showcase the additional skills and knowledge you gained through these educational experiencesâ"the potential employer will see that you have the passion, drive, and initiative to succeed.
